This is my first attempt at blogging, so be gentle with me! My idea here is to be accountable to someone to get my new book done and I figure if someone is out there waiting for it, it will be incentive enough to sit at my computer and get it done.
I've actually started the new book. I have a title, which I'm not telling, because my agent actually likes it and I don't want to put it out there yet.
I know the main character is a psychiatrist named Lila Rose Hartman. she lives in an older house on Long Island that constantly needs upkeep. At forty, she feels she needs constant upkeep, too. She's a very interesting character and every time I sit down to write I learn something else about her. For example, her father left the family when Lila was six. Just took off one day to see the world. He sends her postcards and gifts from exotic places, but in his mind she's still six. She is angry that he left, but envious, too. It's something she'd like to do, especially now that her sister may be moving in with Lila's niece and nephew. And why didn't he take her with him. Why leave her with her mother, who still holds a grudge, even if she is dead. . .
I know which of her patients turns up dead, who actually killed her, why, how. I know who didn't.
I'm just missing the entire middle of the story. . .
Till next time.
